Food Find: Moringa Powder
Source: Moringa is a plant native to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan or can be grown in sub-tropic climates.
Uses: Every part of the plant including the root (although rare), fruit, flowers, leaves and bark can be used medicinally. This superfood claims to have it all though: antioxidant power, medicinal aid for anemia, joint pain, cancer, constipation, diabetes, ulcers, heart problems, fights infections, increases breast milk production, and tons more. Um, what? Where has this been all my life!?
Nutrition: Moringa Oleifera powder is an up and coming superfood that I was lucky enough to stumble upon in a Marshall’s store in Arizona—of all places! Moringa Oleifera makes the following claims:
25x iron than spinach
17x calcium than milk
20x Vitamin E than Tofu
15x potassium of bananas
10x Vitamin A than carrots
9x protein of yogurt
8x magnesium than kale
Now, this is compared gram-for-gram. The serving size of Moringa is often one tablespoon. ONE TABLESPOON means moringa is a nutritional masterpiece!
Where can I get this magic?
* I receive zero compensation for “advertising” Moringa powder. I just think it rocks! If you’re looking for a nutritional boost, I recommend researching Moringa powder.
